RE-PLATING POLICY
RE-PLATING POLICY
Most of our pieces are plated in 18k gold & Rhodium and/or stainless steel or gold-filled. Materials and plating information is specified in each product description. Although our pieces are safe in water, all plated jewelry will eventually begin to fade over time. Fading is based on the chemicals your pieces come into contact with.
Gold plating can fade & tarnish easily if it is subjected to any material or chemical that isn’t pH neutral. This includes perfumes, oils, lotions, make-up, hair products, sweat, chlorine.
To increase the lifespan of your plated jewelry, wipe your gold plated jewelry after each wear using a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris. If your pieces have come into contact with any oils or chemicals, it is recommended that you wash your pieces for a minutes in warm, soapy water to remove any of the mentioned substances. A soft toothbrush my help to clean small cracks and crevices. Then, dry your pieces off with a soft cloth or lay flat in the sun to dry.
If your jewelry is tarnished beyond what a good cleaning can remedy, all is not lost! You can breathe new life into your jewelry by having it re-plated. We plate in thick 18K gold or rhodium with an added coating to help protect your re-plated jewelry. Your Lace by Tanaya pieces can be re-plated as many times as you'd like and we can even plate your gold with silver (rhodium), gunmetal or rose gold if you want a different look!
